Peppermint (Mentha peperita) Essential Oil is extracted from one of the oldest European herbs used for medicinal purposes. It is a hybrid species of spearmint (Mentha spicata) and water mint (Mentha aquatica).
Peppermint Essential Oil is cooling, fresh and sharp with a strong, sweet minty scent and it has many known benefits for health and wellbeing. It has traditionally been used to relieve sore and inflamed muscles & joints; soothe skin irritation, itchiness & inflammation; alleviate headaches & migraines, aid digestion and abdominal pain as well as alleviate nausea.
Studies have shown peppermint essential oil to have antiviral activity against the herpes simplex and influenza type A. Other studies have shown its antibacterial properties are effective in some bacteria icluding Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus. It has also been suggested that it may improve althletic performance such as jumping and grip strength.
In aromatherapy, it has been traditionally used to reduce symptoms of coughs and colds, reduce pain, improve mental function, clear brain fog and promote concentration. It has also been purported to alleviate stress, anxiety, depression and mental exhaustion due to its naturally refreshing scent.

Suggestions for Use:
Add 2-4 drops to diffuser or oil burner to improve mental function, clear brain fog, promote concentration, alleviate stress, anxiety, depression and mental exhaustion, relieve nausea and headaches.
Add 5-7 drops to a hot bath with Epsom salt to relax and relieve pain and tension.
For an After Sun Skin Soother, mix 10-15 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil to 1 cup of distilled/springwater, 3/4 cup aloe vera gel and 1 tablespoon fractionated/organic coconut oil in a large spray bottle (glass is best). Store in refrigerator and shake well before use.
Add 3-5 drops to 50ml carrier oil of choice and massage body to alleviate pain and/or skin irritations.
For muscle and joint pain relief, add 2-3 drops to affected area(s), up to 3 times a day.
Add a few drops to shampoo and conditioner to stimulate hair growth, strengthen hair and relieve itchiness. Add to body lotion and skin care products to enhance benefits and relieve itchiness, especially chronic itching.
Add up to 10 drops of Peppermint essential oil to any DIY deoderisor or cleaning product recipe for its antibacterial and antifungal properties, as well as for its invigorating and refreshing scent.
For a refreshing natural mouthwash, add 1-2 drops of Peppermint essential oil to 1 cup of warm distilled/springwater, 1 teaspoon of organic coconut oil and 1 teaspoon of Celtic Sea Salt in an airtight glass jar and shake well. Use a approx 40-50ml and swish around in mouth and gargle. Do not ingest.Â
