With its warming and topical anaesthetic effect, Clove Bud essential oil is highly effective for pain and inflammation and assists overworked bodies by easing tension and tired, fatigued and sore muscles. Because clove buds have been traditionally used as a meat tenderiser, the essential oil is brilliant for softening hard muscles and body tension when 2-3 drops are applied directly to affected area.
Clove bud essential oil also relieves respiratory conditions such as coughs and asthma especially when used in a diffuser, supports a healthy immune system and is beneficial as a digestive support when massaged onto the abdomen. With its antimicrobial, antiseptic and antifungal properties, it has shown in studies to kill bacteria and mould, so it is excellent for DIY cleaning products and even applied to the skin in creams, scrubs, lotions or carrier oil for treating skin conditions.
Suggestions for Use:
Add 2-4 drops to diffuser or put sufficient amount in oil burner for its sweet and spicy scent to energise and stimulate, boost focus, enhance concentration, as well as to eliminate bad odours and alleviate respiratory problems such as cough, cold, bronchitis, asthma, sinusitis and sore throats.
For a natural air freshener spray, combine 5-10 drops of Clove Bud essential oil with 2 cups of water and 1½ tablespoon of alcohol (vodka or witch hazel is good) in a spray bottle and shake well.
Mix 10-15 drops of Clove Bud essential oil with 2 cups of hot water, 1 cup of white vinegar and ¼ cup of baking soda in a spray bottle and shake well to produce an effective homemade mould killing cleaning solution.
Add 20-25 drops to a hot bath to reduce tension, relieve body aches and pains, and to nourish and help calm irritated skin.
Add 3-5 drops to 50ml of carrier oil of choice for a massage oil that promotes muscular relaxation, relieves sore and aching muscles and reduces inflammation.
Add a few drops of Clove Bud essential oil to lotion or facial cream to help calm irritated skin, and reduce redness, wrinkles, pigmentation and puffiness to leave your complexion deeply soothed and supple.
2-5 drops of Clove Bud essential oil can be added to 500ml of shampoo and/or conditioner to promote hair growth, prevent dandruff and prevent premature grey hair.
