Himalayan Cedarwood Essential Oil

Cedarwood deodara is a true Cedar. It is 65-85 metre tall evergreen tree that grows in high altitudes of cold areas of the Himalayan region of North India, Afghanistan, and Pakistan at an elevation of 1650m to 2400m above the sea level.
Commonly known as the Himalayan Cedar or Deodar tree, it is highly regarded and sought after tree in the woodlands of North India, and this oil has been shown to possess many benefits including insecticidal and anti-fungal properties.
The compound Cedrol found in Cedarwood essential oil helps repel fleas, ticks, and moths from fabric, people, and pets. It has long been used as a pesticide that stops moths from eating clothing and research has found that cedarwood oil also repel ants.

Cedarwood deodara essential oil main constituents include Himalayan C. Deodara consists of α-Himachalene, β-Himachalene, γ-Himachalene, α and γ atlantone as its major constituents. It also contains Cedrine, Cedrol, and Thujopsene which research has shown them to have antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antifungal, antispasmodic, diuretic, astringent, insecticidal, antifungal and antimicrobial properties.

Suggestions for Use:

Add 2-3 drops to diffuser to help relieve stress and anxiety, encourage restful sleep as well as to alleviate respiratory and cold/flu symptoms.

Rubbing a few drops of cedarwood oil in a carrier oil of your choice into the abdomen or bladder region can help to eliminate waste or excess fluids from your system.

Add a 10-15 drops to a hot bath prior to going to bed to aid relaxation and help induce sleep.

Massaging your scalp with a mixture of cedarwood essential oil and a carrier oil may also help reduce and soothe an itchy, flaking scalp. This can make it beneficial for treating dandruff and scalp eczema.

You can also try adding four to five drops of cedarwood oil directly into your shampoo or conditioner, facial masks and scrubs and lotions for added skin and hair health benefits.

Add 4-7 drops to 50ml of carrier oil of choice and apply for any muscular or joint pain and inflammation.

To repel moths, add a few drops to wooden balls or make your own moth-deterrent sachets using cedarwood essential oil, cotton balls and organza bags.

For a natural floor cleaner, in a spray bottle mix 2 cups of warm water, ¼ cup of white vinegar, 10 drops of Himalayan Cedarwood essential oil, 10 drops of Sweet Orange essential oil and 1 tablespoon of coconut or olive oil. Shake well before use. This recipe is not recommended for stone flooring.

For an effective mould and mildew spray, mix 2 cups of distilled water, ¼ cup of white vinegar, 20 to 30 drops of cedarwood essential oil in a spray bottle. Store the bottle in a cool, dry place when not in use. Shake well before use. To use the mixture for mould, spray it onto surfaces where you suspect growth or are prone to moisture. Let the spray sit on the surface for several minutes, then wipe it away with a clean cloth. Reapply the spray as needed, or as part of your regular cleaning routine.
